R&R in Radium
These last few days were awesome as I had the opportunity to enjoy four straight days of snowboarding. On Saturday my family and I drove out to Sunshine Village and spent the day there. The conditions were okay. There was a little bit of ice on some of the runs and it was pretty cold and overcast for the entire morning. The afternoon warmed up a bit but it was still probably -30ÂșC with the wind on the chair at Goat's Eye. We ate at Bumper's later that evening and stayed overnight in Banff at the Ptarmigan Inn. The town was packed because of the long weekend and we had to phone more than 10 places before we could get a room.
On Sunday we drove out to Lake Louise. It was a beautiful day with clear skies and the sun shining down on us. The snow was okay. We stayed mostly in the back area on the Larch chair. At the end of the day, I met up with a bunch of friends and we headed over to Radium where we would spend the next 3 days. The units at the Radium Resort were awesome and it was so great that we could take the time to get away from school and work.
We spent Monday and Tuesday at Kicking Horse Mountain Resort in Golden, BC. I have to say that it is now my new favorite mountain. It really beats the pants off Sunshine and Louise with 4133 vertical feet and great conditions despite not having any new snow for about 10 days. The runs were really long and the weather was beautiful. My favorite run was in the Feuz Bowl that we had to hike up to from the Stairway to Heaven quad. It only took about 5 minutes and it was definitely worth it.
I definitely will have to go back there once they get a big dump in the spring...

Here I am getting ready to catch some powder in the Feuz Bowl.
A view of the rest of the Feuz Bowl to the left of me. You can see people on the top of the ledge on the left who hiked further down from my spot just below the edge.
Made it down in one piece.
